April 29, 2025

WASHINGTON - Today, Rep. Jeff Crank (CO-05) and the House Armed Services Committee passed the bipartisan $150 billion bill to invest in our nation's national defense.

This is a historic bill and a generational investment to implement President Trump’s visionary Peace through Strength Agenda. Investing $150 billion to modernize our military and secure our border will support our economy and strengthen our national security.

“Today's vote to pass our national defense bill is one step closer to securing our borders, modernizing our military, supporting our servicemembers and advancing President Trump's Golden Dome initiative," said Rep. Crank. "Every day, we face new and growing threats from our adversaries like China and Russia. This historic legislation that passed out of Committee today will help address these threats."

Background:

The bill would:

  • Provide $25 billion to fund key initiatives for President Trump’s Golden Dome
  • Revitalize our defense industrial base
  • Includes $5 billion to strengthen DoD efforts to secure our southwest border and stem the flow of illegal immigration and fentanyl into our communities.
  • Deter Chinese Communist Party aggression
  • Deliver on the systems needed for DoD to improve fiscal efficiency and pass a clean audit
  • Appropriates $9 billion to enhance servicemember quality of life, including $2.9 billion for Basic Allowance for Housing, $100 million for childcare fee assistance, and $2 billion for the Defense Health Program
