Rep. Crank Votes to Advance American Mineral Dominance

February 4, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, Representative Jeff Crank (CO-05) voted in favor of H.R. 4090, the Critical Mineral Dominance Act.

Hardrock minerals are foundational to U.S. national and economic security - with applications across the defense, aerospace, energy, and manufacturing sectors. China currently controls approximately 60% of global critical mineral production. Domestic mining has faced decades of regulatory uncertainty and litigation delays, increasing U.S. reliance on China and threatening supply chains.

"A few months ago, House Natural Resources Committee voted on this important legislation, which I am pleased to see now pass the House," said Rep. Crank. "We cannot afford to be falling behind China. Codifying President Trump’s Executive Order will support hardrock mining in the U.S., boost supply chain resiliency, create jobs, and break our reliance on China. Passing this legislation is vital to our nation’s economy and national security."

Background:

  • The Critical Mineral Dominance Act supports President Trump’s actions to spur domestic mining on public lands;
  • Codifies multiple Presidential Executive Orders by directing the Department of the Interior (DOI) to prioritize and streamline domestic critical mineral production on federal lands.
