Rep. Crank Votes to ensure Federal Elections are for American Citizens ONLY

February 11, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, Representative Jeff Crank (CO-05) voted in favor of S.1383, the SAVE America Act.

Despite a ban on non-citizens voting in federal elections, states continue to find non-citizens on their voter rolls due to inadequate safeguards. Currently, thirty-six states require voters to show some form of ID to cast a ballot, while fourteen still refuse, despite finding noncitizens and ineligible registrants on voter rolls.

"American elections are reserved for American citizens only" said Rep. Crank. "The majority of American people want secure elections, and the SAVE America Act will require proof of citizenship to vote in federal elections. Despite attempts from the Left to paint this bill as a restriction to voters, Americans use an ID every day - to drive a car, air travel, and more. This bill will also ensure there are no voter is disqualified due to a name change. This shouldn't be controversial."

Background:

  • Requires any voter to show a photo ID when they cast a ballot. Absentee and mail-in voters can attach a copy of their ID to their mail-in ballot.
  • Requires states to check for noncitizens and other ineligible registrants on their voter rolls at least once a month.
  • Allows eligible voters to register and provide documentary proof of citizenship by mail, provided their state allows early voting or same-day voter registration.
